Cricket Wales - About Us

Cricket Wales is one of 39 Boards that make up the ECB and is also recognised by Sport Wales and Welsh Government as the National Governing Body for cricket in Wales. We exist ‘to lead, inspire and influence the growth, quality and accessibility of cricket in Wales’ We are made up of many different cricket organisations from across the length and breadth of Wales, all sharing a passion for cricket.

We believe in our vision: 'Cricket thriving in the heart of Welsh communities' We feel confident that we can offer the right support and guidance to ensure cricket really does thrive across Wales. We also believe in the people who are involved with Cricket Wales. We are all different, and have great skills, experience and knowledge.

Over 250 clubs, leagues and associations involving almost 25,000 people make up Cricket Wales. These include: Cricket Clubs; Senior Leagues; Junior Leagues; Cricket Groundsman’s Associations(CGA’s); Wales Association of Cricket Officials; Wales Minor Counties; Coaches Associations and Junior Regions.

Casual Community Cricket Coaches

 

Job Title:       Casual Community Cricket Coach/es

Reporting to: Cricket Wales Community Co-ordinator /s

                    (Cardiff and The Vale of Glamorgan & Mid Glamorgan)

Cricket Wales and Glamorgan Cricket are looking to employ a number of casual community cricket coaches throughout Cardiff, The Vale of Glamorgan, Rhondda Cynon Taf and Bridgend to support our development programmes. Hours can be flexible and coaches will be paid an hourly rate of £15 p/h plus travel expenses.

Main Responsibility

1.       To deliver cricket sessions in schools and community settings to engage children and young people and promote cricket activity during school hours.

Responsibilities to support the above outcome

1.       To deliver community coaching sessions in identified schools, clubs and a range of community environments;

2.       To widen access to cricket for specific target groups including girls, people with a disability, Black, Minority & Ethnic Groups and disadvantage communities.

3.       To deliver and support cricket competition within (intra) and between (inter) participating schools;

4.       To mentor teachers, youth workers and club coaches to deliver high quality cricket activities;

5.       To deliver cricket activity at the SWALEC Stadium for both Glamorgan matches and international cricket matches;

6.       Work alongside partners capable of contributing towards cricket and adding value to the existing cricket offer (E.G. Sports Development, Communities First, Street Games, Cardiff City Football Foundation);

7.       To promote Glamorgan Cricket membership, attendance at matches and other Glamorgan promotional initiatives at all identified schools and clubs, so as to develop links between local schools, clubs and Glamorgan Cricket, and to inspire children to develop within the game;

8.       To complete monitoring and other reports as required by participating funding partners;

9.       The role will involve travelling throughout the 4 designated areas.

  • Under the direction of the CDO, work with the identified clubs to sustain and grow junior membership.

  • To deliver and support new competitive opportunities for club cricket including alternative formats of the game, in partnership with local leagues;
  • To co-ordinate and deliver Assembly Visits, Teachers Awards, Cricket Activators and other initiatives to encourage school engagement and the sustainability of cricket coaching in schools;
