Cricket Wales - About Us

Cricket Wales is one of 39 Boards that make up the ECB and is also recognised by Sport Wales and Welsh Government as the National Governing Body for cricket in Wales. We exist ‘to lead, inspire and influence the growth, quality and accessibility of cricket in Wales’ We are made up of many different cricket organisations from across the length and breadth of Wales, all sharing a passion for cricket.

We believe in our vision: 'Cricket thriving in the heart of Welsh communities' We feel confident that we can offer the right support and guidance to ensure cricket really does thrive across Wales. We also believe in the people who are involved with Cricket Wales. We are all different, and have great skills, experience and knowledge.

Over 250 clubs, leagues and associations involving almost 25,000 people make up Cricket Wales. These include: Cricket Clubs; Senior Leagues; Junior Leagues; Cricket Groundsman’s Associations(CGA’s); Wales Association of Cricket Officials; Wales Minor Counties; Coaches Associations and Junior Regions.

  2. Retain players within the game.
  3. Widen access to the game.
  4. Ensure everyone has a positive experience.
  5. Ensure people can be the best they can be!

Women & Girls’ Cricket Development Post

Cricket Wales is the governing body for Cricket in Wales. We are seeking three officers to lead our work developing cricket for women and girls.

Contract:                     1 Dec 2018 – November 30th 2019:

 

3 Roles Required in;

South West Wales:       1 x Women & Girls’ Cricket Development Officer; £14,000 per annum plus expenses; 24 hours per week across a number of days

South East Wales:         1 x Women & Girls’ Cricket Development Officer; £14,000 per annum plus expenses; 24 hours per week across a number of days

North Wales:                1 x Women & Girls’ Cricket Development Officer:  £9,300/11,600 per annum plus expenses; 16-20 hours per week across a number of days depending on the applicant

 

Role Overview

Are you passionate about girls’ & women’s sport? Do you want to inspire more females to get involved and help to make Cricket more accessible for females within Wales?  The launch of Women’s Softball Cricket Festivals across Wales has been very successful as has the interest of girls in All Stars Cricket and the growing number of girls and women playing hard ball cricket. We are looking for 3 Development Officers across Wales to drive the female game further and grow the number of girls’ & women playing Cricket across Wales specifically to drive three areas of growth:-

1.     Retain the interest of those girls who signed up to All Stars Cricket in 2018 by helping clubs set up U9 girls teams;

2.     Set up girls’ summer and winter training hubs across the Area so as to offer additional coaching support for those girls who either cannot access cricket locally or desire to progress further into the girls’ pathway;

3.     Further drive the success of the softball festival model and build greater ownership into clubs as well as broadening the number of teams involved.

4.     Grow the workforce and volunteers required

5.     Develop women's leagues & structured exit routes from women's softball 

We are looking to recruit enthusiastic individuals with:

·       Strong influencing skills and an ability to work with volunteers

·       A passion for engaging girls’ and women in sport and with a passion for cricket.

·       Strong project management, partnership and interpersonal skills in order to work with multiple partners

·       A track record in sport development where you have gained a good reputation for delivery
